About Jackson
Teaching piano over the last 9 years to more than 150 students has reinforced my belief in the power of personalized instruction. I emphasize building strong technical skills—finger independence, rhythm, and sight-reading—while nurturing expressive playing through dynamics, phrasing, and tone. I integrate music theory and improvisation to deepen students’ understanding and spark creativity. Lessons are carefully tailored to each student’s musical interests, whether classical, jazz, or popular music, keeping motivation high. One of my proudest moments was helping a student overcome performance anxiety and perform confidently in their first recital, a milestone in their growth. I support students in setting clear goals and developing consistent practice habits to ensure steady progress. My ultimate aim is to foster joy, confidence, and a lifelong passion for piano.

To me, the piano is more than just an instrument—it’s a powerful tool for storytelling, creativity, and self-discovery. As a piano teacher with several years of experience, I take a personalized approach to every lesson, adjusting my methods to suit each student’s strengths, challenges, and goals.
My teaching covers the full range of essential skills—note reading, ear training, technique, theory—but always with an emphasis on musical expression and enjoyment. I encourage students to share what they’re listening to outside of lessons, and we often incorporate favorite songs into our practice. That personal connection to the music boosts motivation and makes learning feel more natural.
I’ve worked with everyone from shy beginners to aspiring music majors, and I love watching each student come into their own. A particularly inspiring moment came when a high school student who had never performed publicly played a duet with me at a community event. They were nervous but focused, and the performance was a beautiful expression of everything we’d worked on. It reminded me why I teach—to help students not just play music, but find courage and confidence through it.
