About Alexandra
Hello, my name is Alex and I am excited to introduce myself! I am a medical student graduating in May and starting residency in internal medicine this July. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, doing yoga and playing with my dogs. I like to make learning fun. I use visual aids, stories, and repetition to help make sense of the human body. Additionally, I use questions to help students practice the material in the way they will be tested.
Here is a sample lesson plan.
Intro:
Define key terms such as systole, diastole, cardiac output, and blood pressure.
Explain the basic anatomy of the heart, including the four chambers, valves, and blood vessels.
Lesson:
Use visual aids such as diagrams or animations to explain the cardiac cycle, including the electrical and mechanical events that occur during systole and diastole.
Discuss the regulation of cardiac output by the autonomic nervous system and hormonal factors such as epinephrine and norepinephrine.
Explain the factors that affect blood pressure, including the role of the heart, blood vessels, and kidneys.
Show examples of electrocardiograms (ECGs) and explain how they can be used to diagnose heart conditions.
Practice:
Incorporate questions throughout the lesson for student to learn.
Finish with practice questions about the material covers in the short lesson.
