About Olivia

As a singing tutor with over 8 years of professional experience and a BM in Jazz Vocal Performance, I offer personalized vocal training for students of all ages and skill levels. I work with school students, college singers, and adult or professional performers who are interested in musical theater and Broadway-style singing. My teaching emphasizes acting through song, helping students connect emotionally to lyrics while maintaining strong vocal technique. I believe stage presence is just as important as vocal ability, and I guide singers in developing confidence, focus, and expressive movement. Belt technique is a major focus of my work, and I teach it with an emphasis on healthy support and control. I also help singers build vocal agility, preparing them for quick changes in range, tone, and emotion. With a strong foundation in jazz, I bring skills in ear training, harmony, improvisation, and music theory into my lessons. These tools help singers better understand their voices and music. I believe every student deserves an individualized approach that honors their unique sound. My lessons are interactive, encouraging, and rooted in safe vocal practices. About the lesson

My teaching methodology focuses on singing as a form of communication. A song is a message, and the singer is the storyteller. I help students break down lyrics to understand meaning, emotion, and intention. This creates stronger emotional connection and more believable performances. We work on storytelling through singing, learning how each phrase supports the story. I guide singers to think about who they are singing to and why. Technique supports expression, not the other way around. I also focus on musical phrasing, breath use, and dynamic choices that help convey meaning. Authentic expression is always encouraged. I work closely with singers performing expressive and narrative-driven music, including styles similar to Fiddler on the Roof and The Music Man. I dedicate time to refining how singers move an audience emotionally. Lessons are supportive, focused, and interactive. I encourage singers to explore vulnerability and honesty in their sound. My role is to support growth and confidence at every level. By the end, students do not just sing notes. They truly embody their songs and connect deeply with listeners.
