About Carol

Hi there! I’m Carol, and I am a second year student attending UC San Diego in California. My major was originally Literatures in English, but I switched to Biochemistry to aid in completing my mandatory courses for medical school. I have a passion for writing in all its forms and styles as well as biological science. I understand other subjects well, but those two are where I am most proficient.

Here’s a little about me! I’m native to California, and I went to Catholic school here from K-12, though my religion has very little to do with my general mindset (don’t worry, I won’t scare you away with readings from the Bible). I graduated from my high school as a valedictorian with honors. Though I am a bit young for my grade (18, to be more specific), I am no less knowledgeable, and I have some prior experience with tutoring people of all different age groups. Outside of school, my hobbies include listening to music, drawing/sketching, crocheting, and playing some video games here and there. Feel free to ask questions about that stuff too, if you need a break from course work!

About the lesson

I would like to think of my lessons as collaborating with you, not talking at you.

I myself am no stranger to receiving help from a tutor, and it can be frustrating when you simply do not understand how to answer a question or complete an assignment, and yet your tutor refuses to give you the answer. I am not here to bully you, I’m here to help.

Please feel free to discuss homework assignments, essay prompts, previously graded exam questions that you need further understanding of, and any other school material you have that you struggle with.

Furthermore, it is my job as a tutor to make you confident in your mastery of a subject. That means I need to explore any method I can to help you, which includes Google (yes, even Wikipedia), Chegg, Quizlet, YouTube, etc. If you won’t be forced to not have these things in your future job, then I won’t restrict you using them now. Our sessions are for your learning and benefit, and you tell me what works best for you.

Side note, I am devoted to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and I will not judge you for anything at all, regardless of your gender identity, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, etc. I can’t wait to get to know you, and I hope to see you succeed!
