My Teaching Method and Techniques:

My approach focuses on teaching from first principles instead of forcing students to memorize formulas and rules. I break down challenging concepts in mathematics into their core concepts, using creative visual resources to make abstract ideas intuitive and easy to grasp. Because every student processes information at a different pace, I continuously adapt my teaching style in real-time.

A Typical Lesson Plan:

Every 60-minute session:

The Content Review (10 Mins): A quick check-in using targeted questions to assess baseline understanding and reinforce retention from the previous week.

First-Principles Instruction (25 Mins): Introducing the new concept by breaking it down to its foundation, using visual tools and relatable analogies to simplify the complexity.

Collaborative Practice (15 Mins): The student tackles problems actively while talking through their logic out loud, allowing me to identify individual learning needs and provide personalized, real-time guidance.

Progress Assessment & Wrap-Up (10 Mins): A brief evaluation to track progress, followed by setting clear goals and expectations for the week ahead.

Who the Lessons Are For:

These lessons are designed for elementary and middle school students (Grades K-8) who want to build strong foundational skills, bridge gaps in learning, or prepare for advanced tracks like Algebra and the Math Olympiad. I also provide support for high school students navigating advanced coursework, specifically AP Calculus and AP Statistics.

What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor:
What sets me apart is my ability to combine a analytical technical background with a patient commitment to education. As a university psychology honors student with a minor in computer science, I have the subject-matter expertise to teach advanced logic. As a psychology major, an active crisis counselor, and an experienced instructor, I know how to meet diverse learners exactly where they are. I bring the empathy, active listening, and patience needed to turn intimidating learning environments into places where students gain genuine confidence and realize their full potential.
