My lessons are tailored to each student’s needs, focusing on understanding rather than simply memorising methods. • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I developed a passion for mathematics early. My fascination with logical problem-solving grew over time, leading me to pursue A-level maths at College. The desire to help others understand and excel in math inspired me to become a tutor, aiming to make complex concepts accessible. My one mark short of a 9 experience in GCSE maths fueled my commitment to both personal growth and teaching, as I believe everyone can succeed with the right guidance.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

As an A-level maths student and tutor at College, I enjoy exploring topics like calculus, algebra, and statistics with students. These areas form the core of mathematics and have fascinating real-world applications. While every topic has its challenges, I see them as opportunities for growth and aim to help students overcome hurdles, fostering a love for the subject and empowering them with confidence.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Absolutely, my passion for mathematics was greatly influenced by an inspiring teacher at College. Their enthusiasm for the subject and dedication to helping students grasp complex concepts motivated me to pursue A-level maths. The drive to become a tutor and teach stems from the positive impact that a passionate educator can have on students' understanding and appreciation of mathematics.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

The qualities essential for being a good tutor include patience, adaptability to students' learning styles, effective communication, and a genuine passion for the subject. These traits, coupled with a supportive and encouraging approach, create a positive learning environment and help students succeed.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

One memorable moment was when a friend I was helping finally grasped a challenging concept in algebra. Witnessing their confidence grow and seeing them excel in subsequent assessments was incredibly rewarding. It reinforced my belief in the power of tailored guidance and sparked my passion for helping others overcome mathematical hurdles.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

While I've excelled in mathematics, challenges arise when tackling more intricate topics like complex numbers and advanced calculus. Perseverance and seeking additional resources, alongside a proactive approach to problem-solving, have been crucial in overcoming these challenges. Embracing difficulties as opportunities for growth is a mindset that continues to serve me well in my academic journey.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

While I have a deep passion for mathematics and teaching, my heart lies in football. The strategic aspects of the game and the camaraderie it fosters resonate with me. It's a different realm where I find joy, relaxation, and a sense of community, complementing my academic pursuits and teaching aspirations.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions?

My dedication to mathematics, A-level studies, and tutoring, along with my near-perfect performance in GCSE maths and score in further maths, makes me a Superprof. I bring a passion for the subject, a commitment to helping others succeed, and a personal understanding of overcoming academic challenges.
