About Jada

My name is Jada Bonsu and I am 19 years old, turning 20 in a few months. I currently study Law LLB at the University of Birmingham. I have experience with students, primary and secondary, and I really enjoyed it because of seeing the joy in the child's face when they finally understand the topic; their confidence boosts by a mile. I have worked with Year 8 students in tutoring them with their French, as well as supporting Year 5 pupils with their classroom activities. My degree requires a lot of heavy reading and understanding new material from as far back as a century ago. In my spare time, I study French by refining my listening and comprehension skills. In doing this, I have become more observant of how the English language is understood by non-English speakers, and particularly the distinctions between English grammar and French verb conjugations. In my degree and from my A-Levels, writing essays is a frequently used skill of mine. For GCSE and A-Level students, I can guide and support you in the structure of the essay and the best way to secure higher marks, such as the type of academic wider readings you should research and include in your essays.

About the lesson

As important as it is to quickly grasp a concept, patience is needed. I ensure that my students will grow into their own confidence for their learning by being honest and supportive, but never degrading. My lessons will be a free space for them to bring forward any queries or struggles they have. For GCSE-level students, I am also familiar with the current exam climate to teach them exam techniques. A typical session will open with a light exercise to get a grasp of the student's current confidence level of the topic. At the end of each session, we will revisit everything that was covered to see what they understand or still struggle with. For any continuing confusions the student may have, they can tell me and I will incorporate it into my next session. To also allow the student to actually enjoy the session, I will incorporate a game to further test their knowledge.
