About Oliver

A straight-A student attending an elite college, I bring considerable expertise to my work. My command of English has improved dramatically since I first earned a 99th-percentile verbal SAT score two years ago, for I have since read hundreds of books—a handful of which concerned aspects of English grammar more advanced than anything on the SAT—and obtained a perfect score on the verbal section of the GRE, an examination used primarily by business schools and doctoral programs. The Boston University History Department has employed me as a writing tutor since September. I admit that I have little experience with the ACT, but—from what I understand—its English section strongly resembles that of the SAT as well as the significantly more difficult GRE. So if you have any ambition at all to attend a top school yourself (or to send your child to one), I recommend that you hire me for my test preparation services, which I can perform online for every client and also in person for those who reside within the Boston metropolitan area.

About the lesson

First and foremost, I help my students understand that the verbal reasoning questions found on the SAT and the ACT follow a predictable logic that everyone has the capacity to master by applying the necessary effort. I have them take practice tests and explain their thought processes to me when we review their answers together, thereby discovering strengths to exploit and weaknesses to overcome. Notwithstanding the hard work involved, I make every effort to render our sessions as painless as possible. A reassuring smile never leaves my face. Laughter periodically makes an appearance. My infectious passion for literature always leaves my students interested—at least to some extent—in the value and meaning of the passages under examination.
