About Toby

I have worked for 10+ years in the industry as a graphic artist. With clients such as Nike, Burberry, and Wimbledon Tennis. On mediums ranging from animation, murals, and freehand. I have always enjoyed teaching and have run workshops with The Architectural Association, Sussex University and Turner Free Schools. I love to share my passion for creating and am endlessly buoyed by other people's artworks. We all have the innate ability to create unique creations. What is harder to gain is how best to turn that creativity into a marketable skill - and that's where I come in!

About the lesson

We create a person-centred programme. Starting with a conversation - looking at past works the student is proud of. From there we discuss three possible creative pathways e.g. drawing/animation/design. Then I will develop a programme that allows the student to trial those pathways, to get a sense of where their talents best lie. I believe it's incredibly important to experiment. To fail without fear. To try different things and really get a sense of what we can do. In order to provide a positive space, I pride myself on being patient, supportive, and enthusiastic.

Toby is an outstanding tutor who contributed significantly to the University of Brighton, teaching on both the Master's in Interior Design program and the Foundation for Architecture and Design. His lectures and workshops were highly engaging, guiding students in design, drawing, filmmaking, and animation. During a recent visit to the V&A, Toby encouraged students to focus on sketching and drawing exhibits, resulting in impressive hand-drawn work in our sketchbooks.
