About Miles
"I am a passionate singing tutor with over four years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Songwriting with a primary focus on voice. In my studio, I blend traditional vocal training with modern music technology to give you a cutting-edge learning experience. We regularly use digital audio workstations, vocal processors, and studio microphones to help you master vocal looping and live electronic performances.
I love teaching students how to create layered vocal arrangements and build rich harmonies right on the spot. My lessons focus heavily on popular contemporary genres like R and B, soul, acoustic pop, and contemporary Christian music. I once helped an aspiring artist use a loop pedal to build a full background choir using only their own voice during a live show.
We will work closely on deep lyric interpretation, unique tone shaping, and mastering the subtle details of vocal phrasing. I enjoy working with casual hobbyists who sing for fun as well as aspiring recording artists who want to release their own music. "My singing methodology focuses entirely on helping you develop excellent vocal dexterity and complete control over your voice. We dive deep into advanced skills like building vocal agility, mastering quick runs and riffs, and understanding the art of melisma. My goal is to help you navigate complex vocal passages smoothly so that you can sing with effortless grace.
I specialize in training singers who perform in close four-part harmony groups and need perfect pitch precision. I also love working with vocalists who mimic the fast, sliding ornamentation of a violin and want to translate that fluidity into their singing. For example, I recently helped a group singer clean up their timing on a fast gospel run by breaking the notes down slowly.
We practice intricate vocal embellishments step by step until they feel completely natural and second nature to you. By building a strong physical foundation, you will learn how to transition between different vocal registers without any strain. This approach ensures that you gain the confidence needed to handle demanding arrangements and shine in any live performance setting."
