About Breanne

I was drawn to social work because of my own life experiences—growing up as a child in the medical system gave me a deep understanding of vulnerability, resilience, and the importance of having someone who truly listens. That early experience shaped my passion for supporting others and laid the foundation for a career rooted in empathy, advocacy, and empowerment. I am a proud Wiradjuri woman and bring cultural knowledge, lived experience, and a strong commitment to working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people. I feel privileged to walk alongside community in a way that is respectful, culturally safe, and grounded in relationships. Supporting Aboriginal youth is one of the most meaningful parts of my practice, and I love being able to share this knowledge and perspective with emerging social workers. As a tutor, I strive to create a safe, supportive, and practical learning space. I’m passionate about guiding the next generation of social workers—particularly those who are navigating complex theory or working to find their professional identity. About the lesson

With over seven years of experience as a Social Worker, I bring a rich and diverse professional background that spans across some of the most complex and meaningful areas of practice. I’ve worked in child protection, foster care, education, aged mental health, and extensively alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people. I’ve also supported young people and families navigating the unique challenges that come with a cancer diagnosis. This breadth of experience allows me to offer grounded, real-world insight that complements academic learning.

In addition to my practice experience, I hold a Graduate Certificate in Trauma, Loss and Grief Counselling, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Adolescent Health and Wellbeing. These qualifications have deepened my understanding of the psychological, emotional, and systemic factors impacting the individuals and communities we serve—and have further shaped my trauma-informed, person-centred approach.

As a tutor, I’m passionate about making theory come alive. I value reflective practice, critical thinking, and helping students find their voice and confidence as emerging practitioners. I aim to create a supportive, inclusive learning environment where questions are encouraged and real-world application is always front and centre.
