About Julia

I am an experienced and qualified teacher and tutor, additionally holding advanced qualifications in Online Teaching Practice and SEND Teaching Methods, with extensive training in safeguarding and online safeguarding. I hold an Enhanced DBS check on the automatic renewal Update Service. I am a member of The Tutors' Association (TTA), the NASUWT, the National Education Union (NEU), and a registered teacher with the Home School Legal Defence Association (HSLDA). All lessons are recorded, not only for transparency but also so students can revisit them whenever needed. I use Bramble.io for a secure and safe online lessons.

I teach Sociology across AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR, WJEC, Eduqas, CCEA and Scottish Higher, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate Sociology, including support with academic research, assignments and dissertations.

Lessons are to be paid via bank transfer 24 hours prior to the lesson, and a 48-hour cancellation policy applies.

About the lesson

I tailor my teaching to each student, focusing on their needs, and the exams they are preparing for. I focus on developing a thorough understanding of the syllabus and boosting confidence, rather than relying solely on memorisation. Connecting theory to practical application is key, so lessons are interactive and focus on learning by doing. Students retain up to 90% of what they learn when they actively participate and 'learn by doing,' compared to just 30% when they only hear or see the information.

Review

All of our reviews are collected by us and are 100% reliable. They correspond to a real experience lived by the teacher's students.

Perfect! In my daughter’s words ‘Julia is brilliant, kind, understanding and very helpful’. Her guidance and encouragement through the Sociology A Level syllabus has meant there is now a real motivation, desire to succeed, and most importantly an increase in confidence which has been great for me to see.

Perfect! My parents decided that I needed a tutor, and they found Julia. I wasn't delighted with the idea. Now I can see that that was the right thing to do. Julia is super cool, full of understanding, explains all well, gives excellent examples, and gives me tips on memorising things & somehow, she makes everything relatable. From time to time, she also helps me with my other two A- level subjects. Thank you for being so patient with me, Julia. Chloe
