About Youkang
Hi! I’m Harry, a Ph.D. student in School Psychology at UC Berkeley with a strong background in statistics, data science, research methods, psychology, and data analysis. I earned my undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Economics from Brandeis University, where I received extensive training in quantitative methods.
I have experience working with statistical methods such as descriptive statistics, correlation, t-tests, ANOVA, regression, mediation and moderation, structural equation modeling, and latent profile analysis. I also use statistical software including R, SPSS, Mplus, and Python for research and data analysis.
My teaching style focuses on making statistics intuitive and approachable. Rather than just memorizing formulas, I help students understand what statistical methods mean, when to use them, how to interpret results, and how to communicate findings clearly.
I can support students with introductory statistics, research methods, data analysis, homework, exam preparation, statistical software, and research projects. Lessons are personalized to your background and goals, whether you are learning statistics for the first time or working on a more advanced research project.

This Statistics and Data Science course is designed to help students build a strong foundation in statistical thinking while learning how to analyze and interpret real-world data. Lessons combine statistical concepts with hands-on applications so students can understand not only "how" to perform an analysis, but also "why" a particular method is appropriate.
Depending on the student’s level and goals, topics can include:
* Descriptive statistics: mean, median, range, variance, and standard deviation
* Data visualization using histograms, bar charts, scatterplots, and other graphs
* Probability and distributions
* Correlation and relationships between variables
* Sampling, bias, and research design
* Hypothesis testing and statistical inference
* Introduction to regression
* Interpreting statistical results
* Working with real-world datasets
* Introduction to coding for data analysis using Python
Lessons can also include hands-on activities where students collect their own data, clean and organize datasets, create visualizations, conduct statistical analyses, and present their findings. For students interested in coding, we can work in platforms such as Google Colab to practice writing Python code for data analysis.
My goal is to make statistics and data science practical and engaging rather than purely formula-based. Students will learn how to ask meaningful questions, choose appropriate methods, interpret evidence, and communicate their conclusions clearly.
The course can be customized for middle school, high school, AP-level, college, or beginner data science students, whether they are looking for academic support, preparation for future coursework, or experience completing an independent data analysis project.
