About Taha
I am a Chemical Engineer with a BSc and MSc in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University, and I am currently pursuing a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Calgary.
I have a strong background in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and chemical engineering, and I enjoy helping students develop both their understanding and confidence in STEM subjects.
As a tutor, I focus on creating a comfortable and supportive learning environment where students can ask questions, work through mistakes, and build their understanding without feeling pressured.
I believe that every student learns differently, so I adapt my explanations and pace to the individual student. Whether you need help understanding a difficult concept, preparing for an upcoming exam, or learning how to approach challenging problems, I aim to make each lesson practical, clear, and useful.
My goal is for students to leave each lesson feeling more confident about the material and better prepared to solve problems independently.
I am based in Calgary and offer tutoring to high school and university students in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and selected chemical engineering subjects.

My Approach as a Tutor:
My goal is not simply to help students get the right answer, but to teach them how to approach a problem and develop the confidence to solve similar questions independently.
My Teaching Methodology:
I focus on understanding the concepts behind the equations rather than relying on memorization. When working through a problem, I help students develop a systematic approach:
- Understand the question: What exactly is being asked?
- Identify the information: What do we know, and what do we need to find?
- Choose an approach: Which concepts, equations, or principles are relevant, and why?
- Solve step by step: Work through the problem logically and carefully.
- Check the answer: Does the result make physical or mathematical sense?
Rather than simply giving students the solution, I encourage them to work through the reasoning themselves. I'll use questions, hints, and examples to help them develop the ability to tackle unfamiliar problems.
A Typical Lesson:
We begin by identifying the topics or types of questions the student is having difficulty with. I then review the necessary concepts and demonstrate how to approach the problem before working through examples together.
As the student becomes more comfortable, I gradually have them take the lead. The goal is for them to leave the lesson not only understanding the material, but also knowing how to approach the next question on their own.
What Sets Me Apart:
My background in both chemical and mechanical engineering allows me to connect mathematics, physics, chemistry, and engineering concepts and explain how they relate to one another.
I also understand that knowing a formula is often not enough. Many students struggle because they don't know where to start or how to decide which approach to use. Developing that problem-solving ability is one of the main things I aim to teach.
Who My Lessons Are For:
I tutor:
*High school:*
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry
*University:*
- General Chemistry
- Elementary Chemical Engineering
- Thermodynamics
- Fluid Mechanics
- Heat Transfer
- Mass Transfer
- Chemical Kinetics & Reactor Design
I work with students who are looking for help with a specific topic, preparing for an exam, catching up in a course, or building a stronger foundation in STEM subjects.
I am based in Calgary and offer tutoring tailored to each student's level, coursework, and learning goals.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
I highly recommend Taha as a Chemical Engineering tutor. I struggled a lot with physics, but he was really good at breaking down confusing concepts and explaining them in a way that actually made sense. He’s patient, easy to talk to, and makes difficult topics feel a lot less overwhelming.
Taha was my chemistry tutor a few years ago. I wouldn’t have gotten the A in the class if it wasn’t for him. Highly recommend!!!
Taha is great! He tutored me during my general chemistry elective, breaking down concepts and articulating them well. I usually have a tough time with chemistry, but Taha helped the course go much smoother. I definitely recommend him!
Taha is the best chemistry TA I've ever had. He genuinely cared about teaching and always did his best to explain anything I didn't understand. He made even difficult concepts easy to grasp, and I would recommend him 100%.
