About Simon

I am currently in master 2 in commercial engineering at ICHEC Brussels Management School. In addition to that, I am doing an internship in a private bank (Degroof Petercam) and I am writing my thesis on shareholder engagement (sustainable finance). I have been giving private lessons for over 7 years and I am specialized in helping students in difficulty or dropping out. I learned English during high school and university and I reached the certified European level C1 +, I do not have a French accent and I master 4 other languages. Additionally, I have a very good knowledge of business English (or corporate) and I practice english in my everyday life (through my internship in English).

My teaching method is not limited to the teaching of the targeted subject, I attach great importance to the pedagogical aspect and to the personality of the student. A large part of success depends on the motivation and confidence of the student, I adapt my language and my way of teaching to the pupil. Too many private tutoring teachers create a distance between them and their students (often to look serious) and therefore the student do not dare to ask any question or admit that he or she does not understand. I had this type of teacher during high school and I won't make the same mistakes as them. For my part, I make sure that what is taught is well understood (by asking questions and asking the student to explain the concept seen).

The first step is to perform an MBTI test (recognized in the business world) at home. Following the results of this recognized test, I can quickly identify the student's personality and deliver tailor-made lessons.

Then, we will analyze the student's situation: the aspects of the course that are problematic, the objectives of the course (and of the student), the obstacles to success, any communication problems with the teacher. and the current learning method. This goes through the analysis of the tests, the conduct of the course, and the remarks in the class diary. The objective is not to judge the student but to target the weaknesses and threats in order to address them.

Finally, private lessons are taught by reviewing the theory part before embarking on the exercises. It is unthinkable to do exercises if you do not understand the purpose. In addition, re-reading the theory and its assimilation make it possible to identify the student's misunderstandings. The pupils are always satisfied and "relieved" to finally understand what they are studying, they then succeed much better! The student will be questioned several times to determine if he has actually understood the concepts taught and we will then move on to carrying out the exercises.

In some cases, teachers are attached to the pure theory. I will show the student how to remember in the most efficient way possible according to his type of memory (this requires understanding but also tips). What matters the most to me is that the student progresses as quickly as possible and that he is satisfied with my private lessons. The desire to teach linked to my personality and I am determined and committed to ensuring that the student does as best as possible. I will communicate to him or her the communication by which he can ask me questions outside of the course and will ensure his follow-up in a constant and lasting manner.

My classes are adapted to secondary school students and I can take charge of classes up to the level of the sixth year secondary. I prefer to give lessons to the student so that he is reassured, but I can also accept to receive them on site (Schuman roundabout). I may refuse a student if the requested subject is unknown to me (this has never happened until now). If necessary, I could redirect the parent to other trusted teachers.

Courses taught: Mathematics (algebra, trigonometry, etc.), Physics, Chemistry and English (advanced European level C1 +). I can also teach other subjects at the request of the student.
