About Rory

Hi! I’m a singing tutor with over 6 years of experience and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Vocal Studies. I specialize in R&B, Soul, Acoustic Pop, and Contemporary Christian music. My goal is to help students develop their unique voice while mastering technical skills like tone shaping, phrasing, harmonies, and lyric interpretation. I incorporate modern technology in every lesson, using DAWs, vocal processors, and studio microphones to prepare students for studio recording and songwriting. Whether you’re a hobbyist exploring your passion or an aspiring recording artist, I tailor lessons to your goals and level. I focus on building strong pitch control, expressive delivery, and stylistic versatility across genres. We dive into creative exercises that strengthen your vocal range and emotional connection to each song. I emphasize not just singing notes correctly, but telling a story through music. Lessons include exploring harmonies, improvisation, and layering vocals like in a studio setting. I love guiding students through the process of bringing their music to life, from raw ideas to polished recordings. Together, we make practice inspiring, structured, and fun. I invite you to join me and explore the art of storytelling through singing and studio creativity.

About the lesson

For the Church Ensemble Player, mastering sacred and contemporary worship styles requires strong breath support, precise pitch control, and dynamic phrasing. Vocal exercises focus on clarity, resonance, and blending seamlessly with choir harmonies. Sight-reading and ear-training help navigate complex hymn arrangements, while improvisation techniques enhance spontaneous worship moments. The Crossover Artist thrives by exploring multiple genres like classical, pop, and jazz. Techniques vary: classical emphasizes controlled vibrato and phrasing, pop prioritizes tonal flexibility and emotional expression, while jazz encourages syncopation and scat skills. Adaptation is key—switching between head voice, chest voice, and mixed registers allows each style to shine. Both personas benefit from modern tools. DAWs track recording progress and arrangement ideas. Metronomes strengthen timing, while pitch-training apps refine accuracy. Video feedback and slow-motion playback reveal nuances in phrasing and articulation. Consistent journaling of goals and achievements ensures steady improvement. Ultimately, the methodology blends technical discipline, stylistic adaptability, and modern tech, helping singers confidently express themselves across any genre. Passion meets precision. Growth is trackable. Every session becomes purposeful and rewarding.
