About Cherese

Hi, I’m Cherese. I’m a passionate and patient art tutor with a background in Visual Communication and several years of experience teaching art to children and beginners. I’ve worked as a designer, photographer and workshop facilitator and I bring a creative experience into every lesson I teach. I believe that everyone is creative and my goal is to help you grow your confidence, explore your ideas and build practical art skills in a supportive and encouraging space. Whether you’re just starting out or wanting to deepen your creative practice, I’m here to guide you with a balance of structure, curiosity and play. I teach in both English and Afrikaans and aim to make each lesson meaningful, inspiring and fun. If you’re ready to explore your creativity, I’d love to work with you!

About the lesson

My lessons are playful, structured and rooted in exploration. I tailor each session to what the student wants to learn, while also guiding them through creative problem-solving and critical thinking. With a background in Visual Communication and experience teaching both group classes and workshops, I support students in developing skills in drawing, painting, color theory and mixed media through hands-on, engaging projects. I love experimentation, but I also believe in creative discipline—showing up for yourself creatively is part of the process. I’m fluent in English and Afrikaans and can teach comfortably in both. My lessons are aimed at beginner to intermediate students, especially children and young creatives, who are looking to build confidence, explore their ideas and grow in their own unique style. A typical lesson includes warm-up activities, a focused project and space to explore and reflect.
