About Kayla

I am a TEFL-certified English as a Second Language instructor and Youth Services Coordinator. I currently serve as the English Program Coordinator at a local grassroots community organization focused on educating, empowering, and organizing communities to support and defend their human and civil rights.

Through this role, I design and lead English learning programs that support individuals in building confidence and communication skills for everyday life, work, and community engagement.

I also have experience working with youth and young adults with disabilities through work readiness and skill-building programs, supporting a wide range of learners with different needs, strengths, and goals.

My approach is patient, supportive, and student-centered. I focus on creating a safe and encouraging space where learners feel comfortable practicing English, building confidence, and using the language in real-world situations.

Outside of teaching, I am currently learning Spanish, which helps me better understand the experience of language learners. I enjoy spending time with my dogs, friends, and family, and I am also a singer. One of my favorite simple joys is watching the sunset at the end of the day.

About the lesson

I specialize in making English practical, engaging, and confidence-building through real-life communication that helps you build up your English skills for everyday life.

My lessons focus on speaking first, supported by guided conversation, role-plays, visuals, and targeted vocabulary. A typical lesson includes a warm-up conversation, focused skill practice, real-world scenarios, and clear feedback.

What sets me apart is my experience in community education and work readiness programs, supporting diverse learners from youth to adults. I focus on individualized instruction that builds confidence and real-world communication skills.

Lessons are for beginner to intermediate English learners who want to improve everyday conversation, workplace English, and communication confidence in a supportive environment.
