More than a tutor I see myself an a mentor. And its important that I am able to connect with my student for them to create a safe space to shed their inhibitions. Maths can become a little hard at times for some people and I completely understand that. But believe me maths is not that scary! Its fun if learnt in the right way. I am experienced in tutoring maths for elementary and middle school students. I also teach olympiad in a school district in the after school program. My teaching method is as follows - I teach the concepts first with lots and lots of example. Then I would ask student to independently attempt the questions in whiteboard. This makes their approach transparent to me and I can clearly see where they are going wrong. It's then when I correct them and their understanding becomes much stronger. This method has reaped trememdous results for me and the students. But getting the concept clear and attempting variety of questions is an important part of my curriculum.
