About Millie
I am a third-year student studying English literature at the University of Edinburgh and am one of the top-performing students in my degree. I completed the International Baccalaureate in 2020 with 7/7 in all of my Higher Level subjects (English Literature, History, French). I understand the value of having a good tutor firsthand. In school, I found essay writing very challenging but with practice and support, I was able to excel. I know how daunting essay writing can be, and how rewarding it is to improve. In my first year of University, I received the award for the top performance in English Literature for my year, and have maintained an average of a first throughout my university studies. Last year I received the Class Medal for the best performance in The Coming of Age Narrative, as well as the Lanfine Bursary for the best essay in English Literature. Throughout my studies, and having I have developed several techniques that have helped me achieve these awards, and am excited to share these with my students!

I believe that it is important to have consistent support throughout your studies, and would suggest a tutoring model of at least a 1-hour session weekly. Depending on the student's needs, or if they are preparing for exams, multiple sessions may be beneficial. I will work with each student to assess the model that would be most helpful for them. I will provide exercises that the student can use in between sessions to practice, which will guide each lesson to make them most useful. I believe it is crucial for a tutor to be ready to adapt to their students' needs.
