About Tanis

Hello. My name is Tanis. I am 18 years old and am currently on a one year long deferment from college, due to COVID-19. I believe that I can interact, and engage with children, in ways that suit their needs. I am a positive, kind, and caring soul, that understands and empathizes with the mindset of children. I have various levels of experience, with children ages 5-12. In 2016 and 2017 I worked as a recreational staff member at a mini camp, creating all kinds of activities for the campers. I also have a younger sister, and cousins ages 6-10, for whom I babysit. I have had experience with various other children as well with no familial relation. I have also been a certified lifeguard for 4 years and I am certified in CPR, First Aid, and AED. I also tutor elementary and middle school aged children, in any subject that they may need help in. I I tutor every middle school subject. I can tutor every elementary school subject. I can thoroughly explain information to a child who is having a difficult time in any of their academic subjects, and am able to work with them to discover different ways that may or may not help them, academically. I have lots of knowledge in Spanish, and Portuguese, if your child ever needs help in those languages. I am so passionate about tutoring and am lucky to have found it. I love working with kids, and creating a more inspiring and dynamic way of learning for them. My hourly rate is $25/hr. I am available (Monday-Friday) after 2pm, and weekends in the afternoon. I am also very conscientious about preventing COVID-19 and am aware that children are very tactile and how much care needs to be taken to help them stay healthy at this time. With this being said, I believe that I would be a great fit for this job.

About the lesson

My teaching method is to first get to know a student. I want to see what ways help and don’t help them learn. I am leaning in an education type that is very open minded and that will allow a child to learn in ways that suit them
