About Shilpa

Hey, I’m Shilpa! I’m a rising senior at UCLA, majoring in math. I chose math on a whim because I’ve always been interested in it and thought, "why not?" Since then, I’ve really fallen in love with it, especially after taking my first Analysis (proof-based calculus) course. That class really made me appreciate how awesome math can be.

I want to share my passion and help others see how cool math is. Outside of school, I love playing and watching basketball, taking care of my plants, trying out new recipes in the kitchen, and hanging out at the beach. I'm excited to meet and work with any of my future tutor-ees!

About the lesson

As a UCLA math major, my approach as a tutor combines clarity, engagement, and tailored instruction. I use a variety of teaching methods and techniques to ensure a deep understanding of mathematical concepts. My approach includes:

Teaching Method and Techniques: I employ a combination of direct instruction, guided practice, and interactive problem-solving. I emphasize understanding the underlying principles of each topic, using visual aids to make abstract concepts more relatable.

Typical Lesson Plan: A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previous material, followed by an introduction to the new topic. I explain the concept, demonstrate examples, and then guide the student through practice problems. We conclude with a summary and a Q&A session to address any lingering questions.

What sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to adapt lessons to each student’s learning style and pace. I prioritize building confidence and encouraging a growth mindset. My experience as a UCLA math major provides a strong foundation of knowledge and problem-solving skills that I bring to each lesson.

My lessons are designed for high school and college students, from those preparing for standardized tests to those tackling college-level Calculus. Whether you're struggling with specific topics or looking to excel, my lessons are tailored to meet your specific academic needs and goals.
