About Meihan

Hello! I am a native Chinese speaker currently studying at the University of Pittsburgh. I grew up in China and then moved to the United States at the age of 12. I have extensive experience using both Chinese and English in academic and everyday settings, and I have completed a significant amount of translation work between the two languages. This experience has helped me develop a strong understanding of how the two languages differ in structure, expression, and cultural context.

As a tutor, I am patient, supportive, and committed to helping students build confidence in their language skills. I understand that learning a new language can be challenging, so I focus on creating a comfortable and encouraging learning environment where students feel motivated to practice and improve. My goal is not only to help students understand Chinese grammar and vocabulary, but also to help them communicate naturally and confidently.

Because I am a native speaker, I can help students learn authentic pronunciation and natural expressions that are commonly used in real-life conversations. My background in translation also allows me to clearly explain differences between Chinese and English, making difficult concepts easier to understand.

I take my tutoring responsibilities seriously and always prepare lessons carefully based on each student’s level and goals. Whether a student is learning Chinese for school, travel, business, or personal interest, I will tailor my lessons to support their progress and help them achieve their learning objectives.

About the lesson

As a native Chinese speaker, I aim to help students learn Chinese in an engaging and practical way. I believe language learning is not only about memorizing vocabulary and grammar but also about understanding culture and using the language in real life communication. In my lessons, I combine speaking practice, real-life conversation, and reading exercises to help students feel more comfortable using Chinese.

My teaching approach is flexible and tailored to each student's level and goals. For beginners, I focus on pronunciation, basic vocabulary, and simple sentence structures. For intermediate or advanced learners, I include more conversation practice, reading materials, and explanations of cultural context. I often use examples, situational dialogues, and interactive questions to help students understand and remember the language more effectively.
