In my previous tutoring occupation, a typical lesson would consist of two parts. First, I would spend 20 minutes working through example activities that the student struggled with before, then walk the student through solving the content before introducing how the content learned connected to the next bloc of information. In this way the student understands the cohesion of the subject and is able to enhance skills as opposed to learning them out of tandem. I employ a similar structure with French language classes through the use of example texts and writing activities that are tiered by difficulty (conjugation, vocabulary, pronunciation).
