About Demetria

I am a psychology major and current college honors student on the pre-law track, with plans to use my degree to eventually go into adoption law. Being adopted myself, I am incredibly passionate about helping children and young adults. Eventually, also putting my psychology degree to use later in life to continue to help people. I am very passionate about helping people.

Growing up as a big sister of six siblings, I naturally developed a deep sense of patience, leadership, and a strong understanding of how different children learn and grow. My experience working with youth extends outside of my home as well; throughout my high school career, I volunteered at the Archer Library in Archer, Florida, where I frequently assisted with coordinating and running active programs for kids and teens.

As a former AP student, who earned various college credits in high school, I balanced difficult academics while staying highly involved in various clubs, sports, and school programs. I know firsthand what it takes to manage a busy workload and succeed academically. I bring that same dedication, kindness, and understanding to my tutoring, and I am fully committed to providing a patient, supportive environment where every student feels confident to learn.

As someone who in elementary tended to struggle, I know what it is like to not understand the traditional classroom teaching methods. I understand learning is never a one-size-fits-all system.

- I offer math tutoring for K all the way to Algebra 2. This includes kindergarten foundations, elementary math, middle school math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2.
- I also specialized in tutoring for effective study methods in general outside and within math. Together, we will go through a variety of study methods and see which personally fits the student best.
- Lastly, I offer a bunch of other services including reviewing material, help prepare for upcoming assignments, creating notes, and more.

A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previous material, followed by a core concept breakdown, interactive practice, and a check for understanding.
In my lessons, I place a major focus on building a strong foundation by mastering key vocabulary and fundamental concepts first. I guide students through step-by-step practice problems, provide targeted practice tests, and use active learning techniques--like having students teach the lesson back to me--to ensure they genuinely understand the material.

I am entirely comfortable reviewing and reteaching past math concepts to help students bridge any learning gaps.

If one approach does not work, I have patience and a wide variety of alternative methods to try until we find exactly what clicks. I truly want all my students to succeed because education is incredibly important.
