About Meera

I currently work full time teaching learning skills at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson). In this role I support students with diverse learning needs as they hone their time management, note-taking, focus, and study skills. I have previously worked at the university's writing center as a Writing Consultant, as well as in The Creative School as a Contract Lecturer. I graduated from Queen's University with a BAH in Sociology where I won the Gold Medal for academic achievement and was recognized as an Outstanding Graduating Student by the Canadian Sociological Association. Additionally, I completed my MA at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson) in Communication and Culture where I received the Gold Medal in Interdisciplinary Studies in recognition of my Master's thesis project--a legal rights podcast for newcomers to Ontario. In my spare time, I love to watch, theorize and write about television, as well as about creative approaches to education.

About the lesson

I'm passionate about supporting undergrads and high school students in becoming confident academic writers and critical thinkers!

Sometimes the jump from high school to university-level writing can be intimidating. Through our meetings you'll develop research, planning, analysis, grammar and editing skills that will help you succeed in school and beyond.

With 10 years of experience teaching and tutoring academic writing at university, I'm skilled at supporting students with their writing across a variety of disciplines, learning styles and abilities.

Book an appointment with me no matter where you are in the writing process!

There are so many incredible things about Meera, not only was she an excellent tutor, but she was a great mentor as well. Prior to meeting Meera I struggled with time management and keeping up with with our reading assignments and breaking everything down to the key points that I needed to grasp for assignments. The head professor recommended I meet Meera for some guidance. From there, I can say that she changed everything for me academically in such a positive way and she would take the time to diligently go over everything and most of all help me organize my daily schedule . She went above and beyond to help me and I am so thankful she was there to help guide me through and change how I even plan my time and projects today. She is incredibly trustworthy, kind and prompt- I highly recommend Meera.
