About Deven
I'm an international student from Indonesia, currently entering my 2nd year at Trent University and on the Dean's Honor Roll. I know how it feels to fail, to look at a paper and not understand fundamentally what any of it means at all. The last thing that I want students to feel is underappreciated and judged for numbers on a paper, stressed over their future, because I've been there one too many times. Patience, consistency, and a judgment-free space are what allowed my mind to be as active as it could be, and are what I wish to give my students.

- I believe lessons should be fun and engaging, and that my methods should always be adaptive to the student's current level and way of thinking.
- A typical lesson would consist of an explanation, followed by an open-ended conversation about the topic or homework at hand. I will continuously engage the students' ability to perform their task at hand, while providing a space for any questions. During the lessons, I will be using visual aids to capture and retain the students' attention while making sure they fully understand.
- What sets me apart from other tutors is that I've had previous volunteer math teaching experience in underserved communities at an elementary level. Previously taken High-Level Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, a rigorous, internationally acclaimed high school program.
- The lessons are for students who may be struggling with recent topics or homework and are eager to learn mathematics from a pre-k to grade 10 level. (Not 11-12, or university level)
