About Ricardo
Hi, I'm Ricardo! I'm a 26-year-old Mechanical Engineering with Management graduate from the University of Manchester, entrepreneur and someone with a genuine passion for mathematics, problem-solving and learning.
Interestingly, mathematics was not always one of my strongest subjects. I was once a student who struggled with maths and often felt completely lost when trying to understand certain concepts. I wasn't naturally gifted and had to work hard to develop my understanding from the ground up.
Over time, mathematics became one of my greatest interests and an important part of both my engineering education and professional work. I believe my journey from struggling with the subject to applying mathematics in engineering, mathematical modelling, algorithm design and financial markets gives me a perspective that can be particularly valuable as a tutor. I know what it feels like when a topic simply doesn't make sense, and I also understand the process of breaking it down until everything finally begins to click.
I chose Mechanical Engineering because of its breadth and the opportunity it provides to work across many different projects, disciplines and real-world challenges. I enjoy understanding how things work, solving complex problems and applying theoretical knowledge to practical situations.
Alongside my engineering background, I am an entrepreneur and work with financial markets and algorithmic trading, where I apply quantitative and mathematical thinking to real-world problems. I tutor because I genuinely enjoy teaching and helping other people develop their understanding. I have previously tutored and assisted many people and find it incredibly rewarding to see someone go from feeling confused or overwhelmed by a subject to becoming confident in their ability.
My teaching style is patient, relaxed and adaptable. Having once struggled myself, I understand that everyone learns differently and that sometimes all it takes is for a concept to be explained in a different way. Rather than forcing students into a rigid teaching structure, I adapt my explanations and lessons to the individual.
Whether you are currently struggling with a subject, preparing for GCSEs or A-Levels, studying at university, or simply looking to challenge yourself further, I would be happy to help you build your understanding, confidence and problem-solving ability.

My lessons are tailored to each student's individual level, goals and learning style. Whether you are preparing for GCSEs, A-Levels, university examinations or simply want to strengthen your understanding, I focus on breaking down difficult concepts into clear, logical and manageable steps.
As a Mechanical Engineering graduate from the University of Manchester, I have extensive experience applying mathematics and physics to real-world engineering problems. My academic and professional interests have also given me practical experience in applied mathematics, mathematical modelling, algorithm design and quantitative analysis for financial markets.
Alongside my engineering background, I have experience applying mathematical and quantitative methods to financial markets, including algorithmic strategy development and the management of capital exceeding £500,000. This practical experience allows me to demonstrate how mathematical concepts can be applied beyond the classroom to solve real-world problems.
I believe that the best way to learn Mathematics, Physics and Engineering is to develop a genuine understanding of the underlying principles rather than simply memorising formulae or methods. I aim to explain difficult concepts clearly and logically, adapting my teaching style to the individual student.
Lessons can focus on learning new topics, working through difficult questions, mathematical modelling, problem-solving techniques, algorithm design, exam preparation or reviewing areas where you may be struggling. My goal is to create a relaxed and supportive environment where you feel comfortable asking questions, strengthen your understanding and build genuine confidence in your abilities.
I teach Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Physics and Engineering across a range of levels, with particular strength in applying mathematical theory to practical engineering, quantitative and real-world problems.
