About Dylan
I served in the Marine Corps from 2012 to 2015 and was discharged due to hearing loss. I redeveloped myself as a student and fell in love with mathematics. This love has led me to computer science and engineering.
I am currently studying mechanical engineering at MSU and desire to build a career in robotics research. In the mean time, I would like to give back what had been graciously given to me, a second chance to conquer my fears of difficult subjects like mathematics and science.
I have tutored before at the college level, helping students in courses such as precalculus and business calculus.
My favorite field of mathematics is linear algebra, it has so many powerful applications in engineering and computer science, and it is a lot of fun.

What I offer in my tutoring is the encouragement of the development towards independent problem solving.
I want students to be able to walk away from our sessions feeling empowered with the realization that they are 100% capable of learning anything they want to.
I know that is a big claim, but I truly believe this is possible. With respect to my own life, I was always a terrible student. My life growing up was complicated and turbulent to say the least. I created a narrative in my mind that due to this, school was just not for me. I wasn't smart enough, nor good enough.
This is what is known as a fixed mind set. I was crippled by it. Thankfully, through having great mentors of my own I was able to begin to develop a growth mindset. One in which you do not define what you are capable of by your current position.
I believe I can aid the student with their own development of a growth mindset.
