About Nicholas

I am a writer and teacher currently transitioning away from a 6-year career in working for private international schools around the world. During that time, I have written extensively for the theatre, helped a large number of students learn to write scripts, devised performances, taught acting, directing, public speaking and production. Many of my students have taken that knowledge forward into university/college settings with great success. In South Korea, I pioneered a scriptwriting program for high schoolers, resulting in a student written and directed production that enjoyed an audience of 400-500 people. I have also directed a full-length movie within the same context. I enthusiastically read and write all of the time, and I am early in the process of trying to publish two books. I hope my life-long study of narrative can be of use to your endeavours.

About the lesson

I lacked confidence in my youth, and struggled with how to make myself feel important... but after a long period of dismay something clicked. I eventually became a force to reckon with. How did that happen?

I may not be able to fully explain my metamorphosis to you. It's because life follows an infinitely branching path, and to keep track of it all would be superhuman. What I can say that there was a crucial turning point, and it came when I learned what it truly meant to express myself.

At that moment, I began to actually try things, have fun and act strangely without fear. I found a voice and a sense of trust in myself. I was happy enough to make friends and brave enough to make enemies.

It would be false advertising for me to say that I can absolutely guarantee you will find your turning point if you agree to take me on. I don't make those kinds of promises. But I can promise you the following if you join me on this journey:

*** I will always keep your ego in my heart and make sure you know and feel that you're on the right path.
*** I will use my many years of teaching experience to the greatest effect I can.
*** I will work hard to earn your trust as a tutor.

I can teach you from anywhere, but I'm located in Central Bangkok.

If you have writing you want to show me, I'll dive right into it. My feedback is centred on what you're good at. That doesn't mean I am ignoring areas for improvement. I take careful note of them for later and approach them indirectly with writing challenges in the future.

Then we set some goals. They aren't anything to stress about. Your goals are just the direction we'll move in to ensure you achieve something.
