I am a violinist and viola player from Scotland with a PhD in the performance of contemporary music, a MMus in musicology, and a BMus from the Royal Northern College of Music. I offer lessons to enthusiastic and devoted students in preparation for auditions, concerts or competitions, and to students of all levels and ages who would like to study classical or contemporary music, or improvisation.
I have a unique teaching method comprising improvisation, learning-by-ear, and score reading at all levels, which is tailored to the needs of each student.

Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
For English speakers : Emma is a very competent and very instinctive teacher that I would highly recommend. She's really good at creating the right learning environment, and has the great quality of making you feel comfortable. She's kind and encouraging, patient, and as an adult just starting a new instrument (the viola) she is perfect for me.Emma est excellente et très professionnelle.
English speakers: Emma is an excellent teacher and I definitely recommend her!Emma and I met while performing together at the Lucerne Festival a few years ago, and have collaborated since then - mainly as the duo Deux Mèches. She is someone whose personality and musicianship has always been an inspiration for me as a colleague. I have also had her give my own students lessons when I'm not available and I know her to be a kind and effective teacher. I have recommended her with confidence in various performances and teaching situations and have always heard back from others with very appreciative remarks. I know she'll be a fantastic teacher for any student enthusiastic about the violin.
