About Andrew

When you work with me, you are learning from someone who has spent their career at the highest levels of biomedical science. I hold a PhD from Weill Cornell Medical College, an undergraduate degree with honors from Johns Hopkins University, and have completed preclinical medical training. My research has been conducted at some of the world's leading institutions — the Broad Institute, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Memorial Sloan Kettering, and Harvard Medical School — and published in Nature, Cell, and Science, the most respected peer-reviewed journals in the field.
I bring that depth of knowledge into every tutoring session, along with a genuine passion for biology and a serious commitment to my students' success. I prepare carefully for each session, I communicate clearly and respectfully, and I hold myself to a high professional standard in everything I do.
Students who work with me can expect structured, focused sessions with clear goals, honest feedback, and consistent progress. I am not here to simply walk you through a textbook — I am here to make sure you truly understand the material, perform with confidence on exam day, and come away with an appreciation for biology that extends beyond the AP curriculum.
Whether you are a motivated student aiming for a 5, a student who has fallen behind and needs to rebuild their foundation, or someone with a serious interest in medicine or research who wants a tutor who understands that world firsthand — I am confident I can help you get where you want to go.

Biology is not a collection of facts to memorize — it's a set of interlocking systems with an underlying logic. I'm genuinely passionate about this subject, and my goal in every session is to share that passion while helping students see the logic clearly, so that whether they're facing a familiar question or something they've never seen before, they have the tools to reason through it.

My teaching is grounded in the way I was trained as a researcher — not to recall information, but to understand mechanisms deeply enough to ask the next question. I bring that same standard to tutoring, calibrated to where each student actually is.

A typical session begins with a short diagnostic — a few questions or a problem to understand what the student knows, where the gaps are, and what misconceptions might be quietly undermining their confidence. From there we work through the material conceptually before moving to practice. I don't teach to the answer; I teach to the reasoning, so that the answer becomes inevitable.

For AP Biology specifically, I focus on conceptual depth, free-response strategy, and the cross-cutting connections — evolution, energy, information flow — that the exam rewards but that most prep materials underemphasize.

My sessions are designed for high school students taking AP Biology, whether they're building a foundation or pushing for a 5. I also work well with students who have a genuine curiosity about pre-med or biomedical research and want to understand not just the curriculum but where it leads.

What sets me apart is simple: I love this subject, I understand it at a deep level, and I know how to make it click for students who are ready to engage with it seriously.
