I have a PhD in English Composition and TESOL, and I've spent more than twenty years in US higher education, teaching English and working with student writers. I also specialize in personalized, one-to-one learning strategies. So when you work with me, you can be assured that you'll have a knowledgeable and supportive mentor.
I believe that language learning only happens in the context of real, meaningful interactions, so all instruction with me will be interactive — and conveyed in English!
I can help you improve your language skills in any of the following ways:
Developing conversational English
Building vocabulary and knowledge of grammar
Preparing for exams
Practicing English for specific purposes (for the workplace, for travel, for presentations, etc.)
In particular, as a native speaker living in the US, I can be a helpful guide for understanding American culture.

John est très compétent. Étant moi-même professeur de français, je ne peux que reconnaître qu’il est très pédagogue et qu’il m’a aidé à atteindre mes objectifs en un temps record ! Merci pour ton aide, John… et bonne continuation sur Superprof
Dr. Boyd is not only extremely knowledgeable in all things writing but he excels at teaching. He finds creative ways to educate and engage with the material, to make learning more meaningful. I cannot recommend Dr. Boyd enough, he is a fantastic teacher and mentor.
John est un professeur exceptionnel. Il est extrêmement compétent et patient. Son enseignement "immersion" m'a vraiment aidée à améliorer toutes mes compétences en anglais. Je le recommande vivement!
