About Jessica

In addition to working as a professional editor for the last 11 years, I have also spent a substantial part of my career working with young people in an educational capacity. My history includes: *Tutoring (all subjects, all ages) *Editing essays and developing writing skills (high school and college) *Running all teen programs for a YMCA (facilitated Earth Service Corps program at five high schools; acted as lead advisor for Youth and Government; led all other teen leadership programs for the branch; wrote curriculum for the annual teen leadership conference) I truly believe that the key ingredient to making an impact in a student’s life lies not in the bullet points on my resume, but rather in my ability to connect with them on a personal level. I am approachable and friendly, and I appreciate the unique blend of gifts that each student brings with them. It is my hope that after working with me, each student emerges not only with new skills in reading or writing, but also a new understanding of the special gifts they have to offer the world.

About the lesson

I have worked as an editor for the last 11 years, so I have expert knowledge of the mechanics of this quirky language! My graduate degree in psychology also gives me insight into how the brain learns information most effectively as it develops, and this knowledge informs how I work with students.
