About Aleksandra

I have always had a strong passion for teaching others, particularly English, a subject I have been fond of since a young age. I have a natural proficiency in reading and writing, and I enjoy helping students grow in these areas. I am a Year 12 graduate and the recipient of the Academic Excellence Award for English in my entire cohort, reflecting my consistent dedication and strong work ethic throughout high school. This year, I achieved an average of 92%. I was also selected to attend the 2024 University of Melbourne Literature Dinner at Janet Clarke Hall—an enrichment experience where I met Ellen van Neerven and discussed their book Personal Score with fellow students, academics, and literature enthusiasts. In 2023, I was chosen for the University of Melbourne Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program out of over 2,000 applicants. This academic enrichment program is designed to support high-achieving secondary students and broaden both academic and personal development as they prepare for university. As a tutor, I aim to go beyond helping students understand the basics. I focus on guiding them toward mastering the craft of writing in their own authentic voice while continuously improving their analytical and expressive abilities. I love teaching English because it encompasses everything—human nature, the beauty of language, the meaning we find in stories, and the insights we gain about ourselves. I am extremely punctual, organized, and committed to maintaining clear communication. My teaching style is thorough, honest, and reliable, ensuring students always feel supported and confident in their learning.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is centred on patience, compassion, and clear communication between the tutor and student. Although I am new to formal tutoring, I have spent years supporting my classmates in English and have seen firsthand how the right guidance can build confidence and lead to meaningful improvement.

In lessons, I focus on breaking tasks into manageable steps. For example, if a student is struggling with ideas for an essay, we start by unpacking the prompt, exploring broad initial thoughts, and then connecting those ideas back to the text in a structured way. My goal is to guide students toward independent thinking while providing support whenever needed.

Lesson length is flexible and tailored to each student, though I generally keep sessions under two hours to maintain focus and productivity. I tutor high school English students, including those completing VCE.
