About Edie

I am a passionate English student. I discovered that I loved it in year nine, and this realization has altered the entire trajectory of my academic journey. Once I realized how much I loved what I was learning, my academic results boomed. This meant topping multiple courses years in a row, placing 2nd in my cohort and earning academic prizes. I want to tutor because I want to help students succeed; however, more importantly, I want to help foster a positive, curious and loving relationship with learning. I believe a positive mindset makes all the difference, and I have felt this firsthand.

About the lesson

My lessons range from 45 to 90 minutes, depending on the student's preferences and needs. It would involve hands-on work by the student, with my support on the side. I believe that the most improvement comes from internal motivation, and I should merely be trying to provide a foundation for that. This could manifest in short writing tasks under a low-pressure environment, followed by a reflection and editing session. This would also be seen through casual discussion and planning that helps my student to grasp a stronger understanding and personal opinion about their study. I have worked as a teacher's aide for a Saturday enrichment class, helping primary school students with extension content, helping them when they find it difficult and celebrating when they succeed. Though my main experience is with primary students, I am more specialised in secondary English, where I can teach and support extremely high-quality output.
