About Gauri

Hi, I'm Gauri — a passionate and dedicated online Math tutor with a strong track record of helping school students across Australia build confidence, sharpen their skills, and achieve real results.

I am a Vedic Math Certified Tutor with specialized experience in OC (Opportunity Class), Selective School Entry, and NAPLAN Numeracy preparation — three of the most important academic milestones for Australian school students. My certification in Vedic Math means I bring a unique and highly effective set of mental calculation techniques to every lesson, helping students work faster, think more clearly, and feel far less anxious about numbers.

I have practical, hands-on experience teaching Australian students online through Smavy Academy, and my personal tutoring which has given me a deep familiarity with the Australian school curriculum, the challenges students commonly face at each year level, and what parents expect from a high-quality tutor. I understand how Australian students learn, what the exams demand, and how to close the gaps efficiently.

My teaching style is patient, structured, and encouraging. I believe every child is capable of understanding math — they simply need the right explanation, at the right pace, with the right amount of practice. I tailor every lesson to the individual student's needs, never using a one-size-fits-all approach.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed to build genuine understanding, not just exam tricks. I use a structured approach: every session begins with a quick recap of the previous topic, followed by a clear concept explanation using real-life examples, guided worked problems, and independent practice with immediate feedback. For students preparing for competitive exams, I also incorporate timed drills and exam-style questions to build speed and confidence under pressure.

As a Vedic Math Certified Tutor, I teach powerful mental calculation techniques — shortcuts for multiplication, division, squaring, and more — that help students become noticeably faster and more accurate with numbers. These techniques complement the standard curriculum beautifully and give students a real edge in NAPLAN and OC/Selective exams.

I deliver all lessons online via zoom call with a shared digital whiteboard, making sessions interactive and visual. Each lesson is typically 60 minutes long. After every session, I send a set of practice questions to reinforce what was covered.

I have hands-on experience teaching Australian students online through Smavy Academy, giving me a thorough understanding of the Australian curriculum across all year levels. I specialize in OC Exam, Selective School Entry, and NAPLAN Numeracy preparation, as well as general school math from Years 5 through 10 — covering arithmetic, fractions, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics, and introductory calculus.
