About Gracie
I am a (soon to be) highschool student. I am a member of the Mississippi Poetry Society and have one third place in their state poetry competition. I am a published poet and currently have another publisher that has reached out to me. I am a pre-professional dancer at Ballet Mississippi and I sometimes teach or assist the younger classes there bas well. I write because there are somethings that you just can't say. It's can be a way to vent or rejoice or even protest. Words are powerful, I've learned to harness them by writing.

I plan on tutoring anywhere from second grade to fifth grade. I will start lessons by assessing the child I'm working with to find out their strengths and weaknesses. I will assist the student with any questions they have about current class work in english if needed. After I do those things, I will go into breaking down and discussing the different types of writing and papers then go deep into each one. (Unless of course, the student needs to only work on one in particular genre.) For example, if I am teaching creative or fantasy writing, I would go into what makes it fantasy and what is needed to include in order for it to be classified as so. I would also go into the different types of characters in a fantasy and relate them to something the student already knows about. This could include showing a clip of a popular TV show such as "Liv and Maddie" as an example of a foil character, or a character that is so opposite of the main character that they bring out a certain trait in them. (Think of it as aluminum foil, you pull it out and you can see your reflection. The foil character brings out a trait in the main character so that the audience or reader can now see it. Just like how you can see your reflection!) After a few lessons and we've gotten the hang of that genre, I might have the student write their own short story or essay using that genre to show their skills.
