About Shiyi

Hello! My name is Shiyi, and I am a final-year Applied Mathematics student at the University of Queensland. I am passionate about mathematics and enjoy helping students discover that math can be both understandable and rewarding.

My goal is not only to help students achieve better grades but also to build their confidence and problem-solving skills. I believe every student can succeed with the right guidance, patience and encouragement.

Alongside my university studies, I have tutored mathematics and science, worked as a University of Queensland Participation Assistant, and recently completed a Certificate IV in School-Based Education Support with over 100 hours of school placement. These experiences have strengthened my ability to support students with different learning styles and abilities.

As an aspiring secondary mathematics teacher, I am committed to creating a supportive and positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, learning from mistakes and reaching their full potential. Whether you need help catching up, preparing for exams or aiming for top marks, I would be delighted to support your learning journey.

About the lesson

I am a final-year Applied Mathematics student at the University of Queensland with a passion for helping students build confidence and achieve their academic goals. I have experience tutoring mathematics and science, working as a University of Queensland Participation Assistant, and completing a Certificate IV in School-Based Education Support with over 100 hours of school placement.

I offer personalised lessons for students from Years 7–12, including General Mathematics, Mathematical Methods, Specialist Mathematics, as well as selected first-year university mathematics courses. Every lesson is tailored to the student's learning style, pace and goals.

My teaching approach focuses on developing a strong understanding of concepts rather than simply memorising formulas. I explain difficult topics step by step, encourage students to ask questions, and provide plenty of guided practice using exam-style questions. Whether you are preparing for exams, catching up on schoolwork, or aiming for top grades, I will help you develop confidence and problem-solving skills.

Lessons are available online, with flexible lesson lengths of 60–90 minutes depending on your needs. I am committed to creating a supportive, patient and encouraging learning environment where every student feels comfortable asking questions and making progress.
