Details

Welcome! I'm excited to work with you. To ensure we make the most of our time together, I'd like to clarify a few details.

My free introductory session (30 minutes) is designed for us to get to know each other, discuss your goals and challenges, and outline a study plan tailored to your needs. This session is a great opportunity for us to connect and ensure we're a good fit.

If you'd prefer to dive straight into our academic session without an introductory meeting, please note that this session will be billable.

To ensure effective guidance, I may request to review your documents (e.g., project write-ups, data sets, past examination papers) before our session. We can mutually agree on the time needed for reviewing purposes and plan our meeting accordingly.

I'm looking forward to working with you and helping you achieve your academic goals!"

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I was always interested in literature, and at university I only had the option to go for Sciences. Among the science subjects Economics was the only subject I found as the scientific literature, so I developed my interest in the field. If I talk about tutoring then I would say that I am a student myself and I am the topper of my class, a student with 4/4 GPA, so I alway help my friends and fellows in studying and understanding the concepts. They always appreciate my teaching methodology and encourage me to go for the profession.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach Economics, and it's my favourite subject. In Economics I like Maths the most. I like all the concepts of Maths i.e, Calculus, pre-calculus, Optimization techniques, Algebra and many more. In addition, the topic that I always find interesting is Game Theory. And it's also the one that my students like the most. So it's always been a great experience teaching my students about "Game Theory" and strategic thinking.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

While I didn't have a specific teacher who inspired me, my journey into economics was deeply influenced by Avinash Dixit's book on game theory and strategic thinking. The way it dissected strategic decision-making fascinated me and shaped my analytical approach. Additionally, Hal Varian's Microeconomic Theory provided a rigorous foundation that fueled my passion for the subject. These works inspired me to think critically about economic concepts and apply them in real-world scenarios.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

In my opinion, the following qualities are required to be a good tutor:

Clarity & Simplicity - Explaining complex concepts in an easy-to-understand way.
Patience & Empathy - Understanding students' struggles and adapting accordingly.
Engagement & Interactivity - Making lessons interesting to keep students motivated.
Adaptability - Adjusting teaching methods based on the student's learning style.
Encouragement & Support - Boosting confidence and fostering a growth mindset.
Strong Subject Knowledge - Mastery of the subject to answer questions effectively.
Communication Skills - Clearly articulating ideas and actively listening to students.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

When I first encountered game theory, I was fascinated by how strategic thinking applies to real-life decisions. I remember reading about the Prisoner's Dilemma and realizing how often similar situations arise in everyday life-whether in business, politics, or even simple negotiations. This insight changed how I viewed the world, making economics feel less like abstract math and more like a powerful tool for understanding human behavior. That moment sparked my passion for the subject and continues to shape how I teach it today.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

Complexity of Human Behavior - Unlike physics, where laws are fixed, economics deals with unpredictable human decisions, making models imperfect.
Keeping Up with Evolving Theories - The field constantly evolves with new research and data-driven approaches like behavioral and experimental economics.
Engaging Students - Making complex topics interesting and accessible to students remains a continuous challenge.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My passion is teaching-helping students break down complex ideas into simple, understandable concepts. I enjoy making learning engaging and interactive, ensuring that students not only grasp the subject but also develop curiosity and confidence in their abilities. Seeing a student have an "aha" moment is the most rewarding part of teaching for me.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P)?

I've successfully cleared all the stages on Superprof, and now I'm just one step away from becoming an ambassador teacher. What sets me apart is my passion for teaching, my ability to simplify complex concepts, and my focus on keeping students engaged. I strive to make learning interactive, ensuring that students not only understand the material but also enjoy the process. For me, being a Superprof means creating a positive and inspiring learning experience for every student.
