Considering that a language needs to be taught in a more precarious manner than any logical or theoretical subjects, I believe, one should primarily start off in the "building blocks" method. The very first and essential block should aim at clarifying all necessary doubts and shortcomings in one's grammar in that particular language. Once the beginner's grammar improves, he/she can move onto the intermediate level of that language and begin studying topics in English Literature. At the intermediate level, one should balance his or her focus on both grammar and literature, to ensure a steady progress in the subject. Once the learner has made hefty progress in the intermediate level, he or she can safely venture into the advanced level of this language.
