About Florence
Hi, I’m Florence! I know firsthand how hard studying can feel sometimes—whether it’s struggling with motivation, not knowing where to start, or feeling overwhelmed before exams. I’ve been there too, and that’s why I love helping students find ways to study smarter, not harder, and build confidence in themselves. I achieved top marks in NCEA Biology and English in New Zealand, and now I’m studying Medical Science at the University of Sydney, specializing in Anatomy and Neuroscience. I’ve also been lucky to attend a Medical Science Summer School at Oxford University and complete a Diploma in Neuroscience with Duke University. Through these experiences, I’ve developed not only strong academic skills but also a genuine love of learning that I hope to pass on to my students. My teaching is hands-on and encouraging. I focus on breaking down difficult ideas into clear, simple steps and then teaching practical ways to remember and apply knowledge—from cue cards and active recall to tailored study guides. I also create custom resources (like PDF cue cards) so students have tools to keep using outside our lessons. I tutor Biology and English for students aged 10–16, and my goal is always the same: to support students through challenges, build their confidence, and help them excel not only in their exams but also in their enjoyment of learning.

I believe that every student learns best when teaching is clear, engaging, and tailored to their individual needs. My approach is very hands-on and practical—I don’t just explain concepts, I show students how to actively study and remember them. I use techniques like cue cards, active recall, practice questions, and tailored study guides. Where needed, I create custom PDF resources (for example, sets of cue cards) so students have tools they can keep using after lessons. Teaching Style and Lesson Structure Lessons usually run for 60 minutes, though I can adjust depending on the student’s needs. I break topics into manageable chunks, focusing first on understanding, then on practice and memory techniques. I like to keep lessons interactive, asking lots of questions to encourage students to think critically and explain concepts in their own words. My Background and Experience I completed NCEA Biology and English in New Zealand, achieving top marks. I now study at the University of Sydney, majoring in Medical Science with a focus on Anatomy and Neuroscience, where I am excelling academically. My own experience preparing for exams means I understand the challenges students face and can pass on the study habits and strategies that worked for me.
