About Jay

As a committed math teacher, I offer academic qualifications combined with a proven record as part of every teaching session. I have a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics & Statistics as well as a Bachelor of Education with a major in Mathematics. Currently pursuing a Master of Mathematics from Monash University, I've spent the last four years teaching the basics as well as advanced subject matter such as calculus, linear algebra and statistics with a breadth of students from middle school level upwards towards universities. My Teaching Style • Active Engagement: You won’t ever play a spectator role. I walk you step-by-step through every problem, asking you questioning questions to make sure you grasp each step completely. • Scaffolded Learning: I divide complex concepts into step-by-step chunks of manageable difficulty as your skill set increases. • Real-World Applications: I connect abstract math ideas with real-life scenarios in an effort to make math relatable and understandable. • Adaptive Pacing: We’ll slow down if you require more time on a core concept; we’ll speed up if you’re ready to accelerate—not challenging you more than you can handle. Lesson Design & Versatility My typical 60 minute session is 10 minutes of review time, 20 minutes of introducing new material, 25 minutes of guided practice time, and 5 minutes of summarizing and next step planning. I also provide 45–90 minute lessons if that is more what you need. No matter if you’re starting out with your math journey, striving for best exam scores or pursuing the more advanced topics of the university courses, I make each lesson fit your objectives, learning manner and speed. Let’s ensure that math is understandable, confidence-generating and even enjoyable.

Techniques & Teaching Methodology • Active Learning: I walk them through problems step-by-step and ask them to explain their rationale. • Scaffolded Challenges: Concepts are divided into manageable chunks with instant practice and feedback. • Contexto Real: Utilizo ejemplos relacionados a la vida diaria o al interés del estudiante para hacer conceptos abstractos concretos. • Adaptive Pacing: I monitor comprehension in the moment and pace accordingly, slowing down for review of basics or accelerating as necessary. Lesson Duration & Organization • Standard Session: 60 minutes, consisting of: a. Warm-up Review (10 minutes): Brief review of previous material. b. New Concept (20 minutes): Directed instruction with structured examples. c. Practice & Feedback (25 minutes): Hands-on problem solving. d. Summary & Next Steps: (5 minutes): Takeaways and homework. • Flexible Timings: Sessions of 45–90 minutes available on request. Qualifications & Experience • Educational Qualifications: B.Sc. in Math & Stats; B.Ed. with a major in Math; pursuing Master of Math from Monash University. • Established Record: 4+ years of teaching in schools, tutorial centers and one-to-one online environments, assisting pupils in improving grades and self-esteem.
