About Jocelyn
My name is Jocelyn, and I'm from North Carolina, in the United States. I have 8 years of experience teaching and training teenagers and adults, and I'm excited to help you meet your personal English goals, whether they're related to academic success, business, travel, or you just enjoy studying a new language! I'm 100% focused on making sure you meet your goals learning English. I have experience teaching all kinds of students with all kinds of different ability levels, and I'm confident that together, we can make a plan that works for you! I love to travel and have visited over 20 countries, and lived in the Czech Republic and Germany as well as the United States, so I know firsthand that improving your skills in a foreign language can open so many doors, both personally and professionally, and I want to help ensure you succeed and have that positive experience, too.

I have a CELTA certification, which means that through a Cambridge-accredited program, I've studied teaching methodology that puts students first and allows me to effectively help you meet your goals with English, no matter what your first language is. I'd love to make a personalized plan with you to meet your goals, whether that's to connect with people more easily when traveling, advance your career, or study in an English-speaking country.
Professionally, I also have experience in jobs related to politics and law, management, sales and marketing, and nonprofit programming, so if you want to improve your English in one of these fields specifically, I'm sure we can make that happen!
I typically focus on communication first; understanding and being understood in the real world is more useful for most students than memorizing extensive grammar rules. But putting students first means that I'm adaptable, and I look forward to working together to figure out how to best meet your own personal goals!
