About Ronnie

After graduating with a first class honours degree in English Language and Literature, I relocated to Moscow to train as an English language teacher.

I have been teaching English using the communicative approach for seventeen years and have worked in a variety situations, from teaching business students in company to organising games for young learners at summer camp.

I always pay attention to feedback from my learners and usually get a very positive response. Although I am not a big believer in drills and grammar exercises, I do have enough of an understanding of English grammatical patterns that I can help teach theory as well as practice.

About the lesson

The secret to learning is motivation. It doesn't matter how much you study, or how much you pay for lessons, if learning feels like an unpleasant chore, then you won't be able to do it very effectively.

For this reason, I mix communicative language teaching methods and game based learning to make my lessons as interactive, fun, and engaging as I possibly can.

I tailor my approach to meet the needs of individual language learners, not just drilling and testing the language, but activating it with the things that most interest my learners.

I have extensive experience teaching all levels and age groups, and use different methods as appropriate. For younger learners, I use songs and cartoons, for teenagers I use games and stories, and for adults I combine discussion with deeper insights into the workings of the language itself.
