My teaching method is more of a facilitator type of teaching. I present the information but through discussions and critical thinking exercises to engage the students and allow them to discover and find the answers through guided practice and instruction.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
I have known Zion since I came to Alcorn State University in 2015. As an undergraduate, she participated in the Honda Campus All-Star Competition, an academic quiz bowl tournament, where she excelled because of her broad range of knowledge. She was also a student in my senior-level recent American history course where she performed well. Even when I assigned dense, theoretical material, she always came to class prepared and provided insightful analysis during our discussions.
Zion studied English literature, and it is not surprising that she is working as a teacher and a tutor. Even while she was in college, she was helping to tutor and mentor other students. Since graduation, she has worked as a teacher and tutor; she has experience implementing successful lesson plans based on state-required standardized testing. She can assist students with writing, grammar, and mechanics. In addition, she has a love for the written word that she expresses through creative writing and poetry.
Zion is a hard worker and an enthusiastic teacher. Students will be attracted to her easy-going manner and inspired by her dedication.Dear Superprof,
Zion is a wonderful teacher who looks at each of her students as people first. By viewing her students as people first, students second, she is able to help them dig deeper and discover why they missed a problem, or misunderstood a question, rather than just showing them how to fix it. This makes Zion a trustworthy teacher as she holds the students’ best interests at heart and will always do what’s best for them.
I have known Zion since we were in high school. She is the kind of person who puts others before herself. Zion makes everyone around her feel comfortable and confident; helping them to be their best selves. This creates a positive learning and growing environment for everyone around her.
Zion has always been the kind of person who fills a need when she sees one.
In college, she saw a desperate need for an English tutor and started her own business teaching students how to write essays. Her students went on to pass their classes, and some discovered a passion for writing they never knew they had!
After college, she saw a need for good teachers in the lower-income school district surrounding her alma mater. She jumped right in to the teaching world, despite that area being labeled as a “rough area” with “bad schools” and “problem students.” Looking past the negative imaging and stereotyping by others, Zion poured her heart and soul into each of her students, and treated them with respect and dignity. By doing this, she was able to help them skyrocket their self-confidence, which in turn, helped them become successful in the classroom!
I am incredibly excited to see what she can do back here in Florida, and I genuinely hope that you grant her the privilege of working with your students.
Warm Regards,
Katlyn BarburView more recommendations
