About Harry

Hello Everyone,

Thank you for coming to visit my page. I was born and raised in a town about 30 minutes outside of Los Angeles, California. A few years after high school I made a move 2 1/2 hours south to San Diego. I attended San Diego State University and studied Geography and Spanish. I really enjoyed living in San Diego! It is very easy to get to the beaches and much smaller than Los Angeles.

Years later, my love of travel landed me in South Korea. I taught English at two universities and a few private language academies. It was a time of amazing experiences and friendships.

I am presently living in Los Angeles working and enjoying my off times busy in a variety of activities. You can see me running/hiking trails, spinning around on the bike, or playing a little guitar at home. I also try to keep up on some reading as well.

About the lesson

I have had the pleasure of teaching learners of all ages - from children up to university students and working adults/retirees. As unique individuals, each person has different needs and goals driving their language study. My job is to help you assess your own English language ability so we can realize your strengths and weaknesses.

In my class, you can expect plenty of opportunities to practice real-world conversations. You are free to offer suggestions about content and topics you are interested in. Many students enjoy talking about current events. For this reason, I often set aside the first few minutes of class for "current event talk."

The class content is usually a text (article, short story, comic,...) or a video clip. During our discussion time, I will ask key questions and we will have a fun and interesting dialogue. Of course, important grammar, word use, and pronunciation will be looked at. And let's not forget idioms and slang. These language forms are very important in person-to-person interactions.
