My approach as a tutor is structured, supportive, and individualized. I focus on identifying each student’s strengths, learning style, and skill gaps, then tailoring instruction so concepts are clear and manageable. I break complex material into smaller steps, use guided practice, and check for understanding frequently. I emphasize skill-building, critical thinking, and confidence so students become more independent learners, not just better test-takers.
I use explicit instruction, modeling, and scaffolded practice. I incorporate visual supports, guided notes, real-world examples, and repetition when needed. I adjust pacing based on student response and provide immediate feedback. For students who need additional support, I apply strategies commonly used in special education such as chunking information, structured routines, and reinforcement techniques.
A session usually begins with a quick review of prior material or homework, followed by direct instruction on the target concept. We then work through examples together, and the student completes practice problems independently while I monitor and guide. I end with a short review and a check for mastery to confirm understanding and plan next steps.
I am a certified science teacher with specialized training in special education. I understand how to adapt instruction for students with different academic levels, learning differences, and attention needs.
