About Rose

I am a certified educator with eight years of classroom teaching experience. I teach Language Arts (Academic Reading & Writing) in a middle school in the United States. I started my professional teaching career in 2013 after I graduated with a Bachelor of Secondary Education major in History at the Philippine Normal University, the National Center for Teacher Education in the Philippines. Following my graduation, I taught Asian History at a Catholic school and American History at an International school. I started going to the University of the Philippines for a Master of Arts in Philosophy when I had to move to the US to work at the Vail School District. I am continuing my graduate studies at the University of Arizona, pursuing the Master of Arts in Language, Reading, and Culture. My degree program focuses on how culture can impact literacy and language learning, and vice versa. Right now I am looking to work as an online English teacher for English Language Learners (I need the flexibility of remote working as I am studying) to apply the theoretical knowledge from my graduate work to practice.

About the lesson

Learning should be meaningful, creative, engaging, and fun! I am a constructivist: as a teacher, I believe that students should be guided to discover their own passions and build on their knowledge through active, creative, and engaging learning opportunities.

My class usually begins with conversation practice, checking in and listening to my student's interests and motivations. Then, I do a hook i.e games, --getting my students excited to learn is key! After the hook, I present a grammar lesson and then practice with real-life applications. Finally, I end the lesson with constructive feedback and points for improvement.

My area of specialization is teaching A1-B2 but I also welcome profound, intellectual discussions with C1-C2 speakers! Sorry, at this time I only teach students who are 13+ years old only, thank you!
