About Thomas
Greetings! My name is Thomas and I am a tutor in ancient Greek and Latin. I have a B. A. in Classics and M. A. in ancient Greek. I have therefore thorough knowledge in the Classics, Ancient History, and Classical Archaeology. I have taught ancient Greek at university level, as an 'SI Instructor'.
I consider myself a polymath, being versed in language, music, art, mathematics, and ancient astronomy. I will be as open minded as possible and friendly to my students, and guide everyone according to their needs.

Whether you are a complete beginner or more learned in the Classics, I will do my best to help you acquire (not only "learn") Greek and/or Latin.
I believe that a simple approach to these languages is required, since the grammar etc. can already be quite demanding. Already during the 17th century it was noted by the great educator Comenius that memorising the vocabulary was the most tedious task for a student. We will hence focus on not only the morphology and syntax, but more importantly on the core vocabulary by the help of such powerful methods as Interlinear translations and databases.
If you choose to study with me, you will learn from one who knows exactly what it felt like being a beginner, and who has realised that there are easier and more efficient methods than those taught at the universities. An active approach, rather than just passive (reading texts) is of the essence. But if you wish, we may focus on only following the 'passive' method, especially if you mainly want to pass exams and get your degree.
